🌾 Introduction
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) is one of India’s largest food welfare programs launched by the Government of India in April 2020. The scheme aims to provide free food grains to millions of poor and underprivileged families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
🍚 What is PMGKAY?
Under this scheme, every eligible beneficiary under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) receives 5 kilograms of food grains per person per month free of cost. The scheme covers both Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH) families.

- Families holding a valid NFSA Ration Card
- All beneficiaries under AAY and PHH categories
- Over 81 crore people across India are covered under this scheme
💰 Cost and Implementation
The Central Government bears the entire cost of the food grains, including distribution and transportation. Implementation is done through state governments via Fair Price Shops (PDS outlets).

🧾 How to Check Your Name in PMGKAY List
- Visit your state’s Food and Civil Supplies Department website.
- Go to the NFSA or Ration Card section.
- Select your district, block, and village.
- Check if your name appears in the beneficiary list.
