Overview of Sishu Sevika Recruitment

Sishu Sevika are female assistants appointed in Odisha government primary schools’ pre-primary classes (Sishu Vatikas). The main goal is to provide support in foundational education for children aged 5-6 years.

The total vacancies are approximately 45,000+ across the state.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Gender: Female candidates only.
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum 10th pass (Matriculation) from a recognized board. Some sources report 8th or 12th, but 10th pass is considered standard.
  • Local Area: Preference may be given to candidates residing near the school.
  • Language: Fluency in Odia and local dialect recommended.
  • Physical & Mental Fitness: Must be capable of handling young children.


Age Limit & Relaxation

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 42 years
  • Age Relaxation: As per government norms for SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories. Example: OBC +3 years, SC/ST/PWD +5 years.


Honorarium / Salary

Selected Sishu Sevika will receive an honorarium of ₹3,000 per month. The funding is provided under the Samagra Shiksha program.


Selection Process

The selection process does not include any written exam or skill test. It is purely based on:

  • Document verification
  • Merit list prepared by the School Management Committee (SMC)
  • Local preference and eligibility
