Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana 2025 (PMDDKY)
The Government of India has launched a new and transformative agriculture development program called Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY). The Union Cabinet approved this scheme on 16th July 2025 to uplift the most underperforming agricultural districts of the country.
✅ What is PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana?
This scheme aims to bring comprehensive development in farming, irrigation, post-harvest management, and farmer income through a district-level agricultural transformation plan. It will be implemented over a period of six years (2025–2031) with an estimated budget of ₹24,000 crore.

🌾 Selection of Districts
Districts will be selected based on the following three parameters:
- Low agricultural productivity

At least one district from every state and union territory will be selected. States with higher net cropped areas will get more districts under this scheme.
💧 Components and Convergence
Instead of launching new programs, the government will converge 36 existing schemes from 11 different ministries. This will ensure maximum impact at the district level through a unified implementation strategy. The major components include:
- Micro irrigation and water-use efficiency
- Soil health and organic farming
- Post-harvest management infrastructure
- Farmer training and digital farming tools

The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will be implemented through a District Dhan-Dhaanya Samiti headed by the District Collector. It will prepare a District Agriculture and Allied Activities Plan with specific measurable targets. The scheme will be monitored at the national, state, and district levels using a real-time digital dashboard.
